Man convicted of kidnapping, raping teen girl

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A jury has convicted a man who sparked a nationwide manhunt last year when he cut off his GPS tracking device the day before he was to appear in court.

Cedric Jones was due in court in May 2012 on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl. Prosecutors said Jones kidnapped the young teen in 2010 and held her in a storage facility, where he reportedly raped her and held her overnight.

He surrendered to authorities days after ditching the GPS device, and Wednesday he was convicted of rape and kidnapping.
