HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Court documents filed Tuesday in Madison County District Court state Madison County District Attorney Rob Broussard will personally prosecute the case against a man accused of killing his wife and son.
Stephen Marc Stone remains in the Huntsville-Madison County Metro Jail without bond. Stone is charged with the capital murders of 32-year-old Krista Stone and 7-year-old Zachery Stone.
Investigators say Stone strangled his wife and then strangled and drowned his son on February 24.
According to police, Stone then drove to Leeds Police Department, near Birmingham, and confessed to the killings.
Huntsville Police officers were contacted by Leeds Police. Officers found the bodies of Krista and Zachery at their home on Chicamauga Trail.
The couples two daughters are now with family members.
A motive has not been released in this case. Court records do not list an attorney for Stone.
Stone has a hearing at the Madison County Courthouse on March 20.
Court officials confirm Broussard will try this case with the help of Assistant District Attorney Tim Gann.
