Crockett PD: 33-year-old woman punched, slapped son

CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Crockett Police Department arrested a 33-year-old woman after she allegedly punched and slapped her 12-year-old boy.

Laguisha McDaniel, of Crockett was arrested on March 1 on a felony injury to a child charge. She posted a bail of $15,000, and was released on March 3.

According to Detective Jerrod Vickers of the Crockett Police Department, officers with his department were called out to Crockett Junior High to meet with Child Protective Services and a 12-year-old boy.

During the interview, the boy allegedly told the Crockett PD officers and CPS worker that his mother had punched him in the cheek and then slapped him. Vickers said the boy had bruises on the side of his face.

When Crockett PD detectives interviewed McDaniel, she allegedly admitted to the incident. McDaniel was arrested without incident a short time after Crockett PD detectives obtained an arrest warrant.
