ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The city of Albertville is looking at ways to help save its struggling golf course.
For a year, Albertville's golf course has struggled after two banks filed suit against it for non-payment.
One city councilman said the city will not take it over, citing it would put a tax burden on the citizens, but Councilman Nathan Broadhurst hopes a group of investors will buy it and then allow it to become a quasi city entity with a board, which would grant it tax relief and do the things necessary to make it successful.
"…Increasing membership, increasing open play, getting more tournaments, having high school tournaments, charity tournaments and things like that that they haven't been able to do in the past," said Broadhurst.
He said the course must first be purchased by an investor group before any other action can take place.
