MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A meeting to get more school resource officers in Marshall County schools has been postponed. That meeting was expected to take place on Monday in Guntersville between the Marshall County Board of Education, the county commission, and the legislative delegation.
A member of the legislative delegation had a conflict so the meeting was postponed.
The meeting was set up after the county commission last week tabled a vote on enacting a $25 car tag fee. It is estimated such a fee would bring in more than $2-million annually.
If approved, school superintendent Tim Nabors said a portion of the money would be used to put school resource officers in all of the county schools.
Whatever is left over would be used to hire more teachers to teach classes currently not taught in the school system and also to do school repairs.
At this time, a new date has not been set for the parties to meet.
