BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
The Alabama Department of Public Safety says two people were killed and five were injured in a 2-vehicle wreck near Sylacauga. Of the injured, four were juveniles ranging in age from 1-year-old to 11-years-old.
The accident happened around 11:15 p.m. on Friday on AL-21 just 11 miles north of Sylacauga. 35-year-old Filemon Reyes Santigo and 23-year-old Areli Jacinto were killed while traveling in a 2003 Ford Focus. An 11-year-old female, 7-year-old female, 6-year-old female and 1-year-old male were in the same vehicle and were all injured. All of the juveniles were taken to Children's Hospital.
64-year-old Kenneth Latham Sr. was injured while driving the other car involved in the wreck, a 2013 Ford Fusion. He was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center.
The wreck remains under investigation by state troopers.
