Varallo's Restaurant matriarch dies at age 96

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Eva Varallo, the matriarch of Nashville's oldest restaurant died Friday at age 96.

For 60 years, Varallo worked alongside her husband, Frank, at Varallo's Chile Parlor in downtown Nashville.

Varallo's Restaurant has been a gathering place for politicians, musicians and business leaders for more than 100 years.

Visitation will be held March 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Community, 14544 Lebanon Road, in Old Hickory. The church will host her funeral the following day at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
