HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A winter weather advisory has been issued for Jackson and DeKalb counties in North Alabama.
Scattered snow showers will continue to develop over south central Tennessee and track southeast over North Alabama. The heaviest snow shower activity will take place overnight tonight and early Saturday morning.
Some of the snowfall could become heavy enough to create some slushy conditions on bridges and overpasses in Northeast Alabama. The higher elevations stand the best chance of seeing up to one inch of snow, mainly on grassy areas.
Ground temperatures are in the lower 40s so any snow accumulations will not last long and eventually melt.
By Saturday afternoon expect to see just a few flurries remain. Some areas will see the snow showers change back to rain showers late Saturday morning. Temperatures will drop into the lower to middle 30s this evening and remain there until the late morning hours on Saturday. Some isolated areas could see the temperature drop to freezing.
By Sunday the sunshine will return and temperatures will rebound into the lower to middle 40s.
If you see snow accumulation where you are, email a picture to pix@waff.com or tweet it to @waff48.
