FRA administrator off the job, reason unclear

There's concern at one Nashville private school after the dismissal of a popular administrator, and parents say they are being kept in the dark about why the school's dean was suddenly let go.

Several parents showed up Thursday to Franklin Road Academy, looking for answers, but for now it seems there are more rumors and speculation than official information.

"I've called. I've asked. They can't tell me anything," said parent Jennifer Schraw.

Schraw said she and other FRA parents want to know why Dean Andy Sheets has apparently been dismissed.

"As a parent, we're concerned, obviously, if someone's let go in that quick of a way," Schraw said.

A letter informed parents that Sheets is no longer employed at FRA, but it didn't offer details.

According to the parents with whom Channel 4 spoke, students were told during an assembly Thursday morning that Sheets was dismissed - but not for anything illegal or immoral.

Several parents said they've been told it's the result of friction between Sheets and the school's headmaster.

"He is well-loved by parents and children, and if he was let go because of something like that, I don't think that's something that will be liked by most parents of this school," Schraw said.

Sheets was dean of the middle school and interim dean of the high school at FRA and had worked at the school for three years.

Leaders at FRA would not speak to us today, simply sending a statement saying they don't respond to questions about personnel.

Police said they are not involved with this situation, so the dean's departure appears to be more of an internal matter.
