A grand jury indicted a man accused of enticing children.
They had a "need for speed."
And some crooks made a pit stop at a local parts store before they sped away with some high-dollar drag racing equipment.
Here's your chance to slam the brakes on them in this week's WAFF 48 Crime Stoppers.
These aren't your average, run-of-the mill vehicles.
So when local drag racers need parts, they can't go to an average run-of-the-mill store.
That's where the CBI Performance Warehouse in Athens comes in.
Specialized products with a specialized customer base.
That's why burglars who hit here February 9th seemed to know exactly what they were after.
Store owner Misty Terry said, "They removed the glass from the frame."
Terry said someone knew how to remove the glass from the door.
That may be a big clue.
Once inside, they went for a specific motor worth more than $25,000.
It was on a dolly, but it weighed roughly 700 pounds.
So you'd have to imagine there were at least two or three crooks.
And this engine would do an average driver absolutely no good.
Misty Terry said "drag race only."
Misty said these crooks also stole some very specific engine components worth over $5,000.
"The drag racing market around here is [a] close knit community, so we're hoping somebody will know something and will come forward."
The store is offering a sizeable reward in addition to the up-to $1,000 reward offered by Crime Stoppers.
