My Take - Brewer High Terror Threat

Last week you saw the story of a young man arrested for making a terrorist threat at Brewer High School. We learned that the arrest was made possible only because a fellow student came forward with what he knew. Thanks to the student's actions, quick work by law enforcement, and full cooperation from school leaders, 18 year old Brandon Smithson was arrested before he could act. While we will never know the scope of the tragedy that could have happened, we do know that in every student led mass shooting, some fellow students knew what was going to happen but didn't tell anyone for fear of being seen as a snitch. We know the name of the man who made the threat at Brewer High. The identity of the young man who led to his arrest is unknown. It is time for that to change. School leaders and law enforcement need to give a lot more attention to those who do the right thing. Heroes should be household names. Not mass murderers.
