LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
There was a ruling in the case against a Limestone County man accused of killing a lost camper.
The judge denied bond for Joel Moyers. He will await his trial for capital punishment in jail.
Investigators say Brandon Hydrick and his brother were searching for a friend's campsite in the early morning hours of September 29th when Moyers shot at their truck from roughly 75 yards away on Fennel Road.
The bullet struck Hydrick in his chest as he sat in the passenger seat.
During a bond hearing last week, Limestone County district attorney showed a video of tests conducted by the department of forensic sciences with the SKS rifle Moyers used. The tests showed that gun to be very accurate, and the DA said that refutes Moyers' claim that he was trying to shoot a warning shot in the air.
