SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -

This week's Star Student has a delicious way to reward herself for studying.

"I get distracted so easily. I have to turn my phone off, I have to listen to music though because music helps me calm down and I'm pretty hyper," said 16 year old Sara Gamble, a junior at Scottsboro High School.

"I like to study alone and I reward myself with chocolate," said.

That chocolate may be the key to Sara's straight 'A' average, high ACT scores, and National Honor Society membership. She says she's focused on working hard now so she can have a bright future.

"I really want to go to college and be an engineer. So if I want to go to college and be an engineer, I really need a good education," said Sara.

Her engineer aspirations go hand in hand with her favorite subject in school.

"Math, I love math because everything is so logical and everything is always the same. If you get this problem once, you're going to get it again and it's going to be the same answer," said Sara.

Sara also finds time for community service, she traveled with a group to Guatemala for a missions trip. The teen said the experience taught her just how good Americans have it.

It's not all work for Sara, she competes in competitive cheer and even though an injury sidelined her for a bit, she's in physical therapy and ready to get back at it.
