14 meth labs found at Morgan Co. home

LACEY'S SPRING, AL (WAFF) -

Morgan County deputies found 14 meth labs at a Lacey's Spring home after they received a tip during a traffic stop.

Deputies stopped a vehicle on Highway 36 for a lane violation. They found meth and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

One of the passengers, Steven Burks, told agents there was a meth lab at his home on Matkin Cove Road.

When investigators searched the home, they found 14 meth labs, several soda bottles fashioned into an HCL gas generator, components used to make meth, syringes and liquid methamphetamine. Investigators said the meth labs were hidden in a hole cut in the floor.

Cotaco Volunteer Fire Department was called to decontaminate the home.

Burks was arrested and charged with 14 counts of unlawful manufacturing a controlled, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $1,005,000.

A second passenger in the car, Chasity Suites, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $7,800.
