HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

If you suffer from allergies, you have probably noticed this has been a really rough week.

A warmer than usual winter has trees blooming earlier.

Experts say cedar, elm, and maple are the primary culprits most people feel this week.

Pollination was first detected 10 days ago, with a huge spike on Tuesday.

Dr. Shasi Kumar said it is easy to mix up allergies with a common cold.

"The difference between cold and allergies are if someone has a lot of sneezing and itching nose and eyes, that goes more along with allergies than a cold. A cold will last for a few days, but with allergies, the suffering will be weeks," he said.

Kumar said the windy conditions aren't helping.

He said a good rainfall could clean the air, but that would also fuel more plant growth and you guessed it, more pollen.
