HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Some Huntsville students are getting ready for the race of a lifetime in the UK.
Teens from the Huntsville Center for Technology Drafting Class have been putting together a race car for months now.
The students learned on real engineering software, using 3-D technology and left-over carbon fiber from NASA.
SAIC and Seimens have been working with the students on the Green Power Car Project since its inception.
"We've been working on this car since last January, and it took us a year to get to this point. It all started as a drawing, as an idea, and look at it now - that's where we are now," said Franco Camarillo, a New Century High School senior.
The HCT students are the only Americans participating in the race.
