My Take - Violence Again Women Act

Last week the Violence Against Women Act was overwhelmingly approved by the United States Senate. Ninety three senators voted for the amendment that created harsher penalties for human trafficking. Five voted against it. One of those five was Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions. Of the literally hundreds of press releases senators send out every year explaining their stance on issues, why nothing explaining Sessions position on this? When our news department contacted the senator's office seeking answers, they said the reason he voted against it was that he wanted something even stronger. That answer doesn't hold water for me. How can doing nothing be better than doing something? If November taught us anything, it is that the Republican Party, rightly or wrongly, has a problem connecting with female voters. It is time to abandon the way or no way mentality that too many politicians have adopted. I believe some progress is better than no progress at all.
