MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) -
Trial dates are set for fired Muscle Shoals police officer Greg Scoggins.
Scoggins lost his job following his arrest for allegedly shooting and killing a deer from his patrol car.
Scoggins appeal to get his job back will go before a Colbert County Judge on May 6. His bench trial for the criminal charges is scheduled for March 12. Neither trial will go before a jury.
Police say Scoggins shot and killed the deer while on duty in December 2012. He's charged with reckless endangerment, hunting without permission, and hunting with the aid of a motor vehicle.
Scoggins was placed on administrative leave with pay while the shooting was investigated.
