HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Marshal Space Flight Center co-hosted an event called "Robots to Rocket City," Sunday afternoon at the space and rocket center in Huntsville.
The competition gave dozens of student teams across north Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi a chance to test out their robots before heading to the regional competition.
It also gave many students a chance to put their technical skills on display and have fun at the same time.
"I got involved just this year; it's been the most amazing experience. I went from not knowing a single thing about robotics or engines or batteries and all that kind of stuff; the whole engineering process was way over my head and now it's just like second-nature,"said Katherine Hetrick, competitor.
The space and rocket center recently added The Space Camp Robotics program.
