MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
More charges may be in store for a suspected armed bank robber in Morgan County.
Authorities arrested Joe Guthrie after he allegedly robbed the Peoples Bank in Laceys Spring Wednesday.
Friday, Sheriff Ana Franklin said he will be charged with three other bank robberies.
Franklin said they have the evidence they need after searching his home and his truck, and these three bank robberies may not be the only robberies they charge him with.
According to court documents, witnesses gave authorities a description of his truck. One of them actually followed Guthrie but lost sight of them as he went into Madison County. Authorities were able to get a tag number, and Huntsville Police took him down.
Guthrie will be charged for two bank robberies in Eva, at the Eva Bank and at Premiere Bank, and he will be charged for robbing the Peoples Bank in Somerville.
He may be the suspect in more crimes.
Franklin said there are several other bank robberies outside of Morgan County in which the robber had a very similar method of operation.
"It was always raining. That way he wasn't suspicious when he had a raincoat or a hoodie on. He parked at an alternate location, walked away from the cameras, he generally scoped out the bank ahead of time, so he knew where the cameras were. He waited until no one else was in the bank," she said.
Investigators said they discovered around $12,000 from the Laceys Spring robbery in Guthrie's truck.
