ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -
Julie Gill enlisted the help of some local art students to make a new glass mosaic of the city logo for the mayor's office in Athens.
Meanwhile, members of Art on the Square announced they are merging their group with the Spirit of Athens Committee.
This will mean more art programs and events for the city.
Their goal is to make Athens the go-to city in Alabama for artists and lovers of art.
"And by having the committee with Spirit of Athens, we'll be able to focus on those efforts. It might mean smaller events, art strolls throughout the year, some art education to children in the community but primarily our main focus is working on an art incubator project that we've recently started here in Athens," said Trisha Black with Spirit of Athens.
That project will provide space for artists to work and showcase their work.
