MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
Back in June 2012 the River Region waited with bated breath as local and federal authorities searched a house and attic in East Montgomery for Auburn shooting suspect Desmonte Leonard.
Law enforcement tore through the home ripping out drywall, insulation and duct work. More than 20 tear gas canisters were exploded inside the home that was being used as a rental property.
The result? Tens of thousands of dollars in damages and a structure that needed to be rehabbed from top to bottom before it could be deemed safe to live in.
Now, the work is underway. But the question that still remains is who should foot the bill? Who is ultimately responsible for the damage done to the home?
WSFA 12 News Reporter Jennifer Oravet takes us back into the home nearly eight months after the search to see what the home looks like now and to find out what happens next in the manhunt aftermath tonight at 10 p.m.
