HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Rocket City Barbershop Chorus is making
it's rounds, delivering Valentines, but it's not your usual chocolates and
flowers.
Some women in the Tennessee Valley are in for a musical surprise.
"The Slide Rules" are a quartet within the chorus. They made their way around town, delivering singing Valentine's to unsuspecting women.
The first stop was Gold's Gym, where Amy was
the first "victim." Her boyfriend bought her the singing valentine
package, and she was more than surprised. The chorus nabbed her while she was
working out on the elliptical machine and after getting over her initial shock,
she admits it was better than chocolate or flowers.
Next, they traveled over to the Downtown Rescue
Mission where Becky McRoy works. Her husband of 51 years sprung for the singing
surprise, which wasn't just a surprise to her, but her co-workers too!
Becky
admitted it was her best Valentine's day gift yet and more than makes up for
the time her husband forgot the holiday!
It was
their first Valentine's Day together as a married couple and Becky remembers,
"We were married on February 10, 1962 and on February 14, 1962, he
forgot Valentine's Day. I've been ribbing him ever since."
For $45,
you get a rose, a personalized card, and two songs sung to your sweetheart. There
are still a few spots left.
