FLORENCE -- The University of North Alabama scored 43 runs in sweeping a season-opening double-header from LeMoyne-Owen Wednesday, 29-2 and 14-0.
The Lions scored in all 12 innings of the double-header, pounding out 34 hits and added 17 walks and 10 hit batters.The UNA pitchers, meanwhile, allowed just two runs on 10 hits in 14 innings of work.
UNA scored 15 runs in the first inning of game one, sending 14 batters to the plate before the first out was recorded. The Lions then added three runs in the second inning, two in the third, three in the fourth, five in the fifth and one in the sixth. Bradley Noland led the offensive onslaught with four hits, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Josh Cyr, Dylan Boston and Eric Wilson scored four runs each, while Cyr, Will Dennis, Andrew Almon and Matthew Tittle drove in four runs each.
Starting pitcher Daymon Eriksen pitched three innings to get the win, allowing no runs on one hit. Riley Sanderson also pitched three scoreless innings before Brad Van Fechtman came in in the seventh and allowed two runs on three hits.
UNA scored four runs in the opening inning of the nightcap and then added single runs in the second, third and fourth innings, two in the fifth and five in the sixth for the 14-0 win.
Eric Wilson pitched four scoreless innings to get the win, allowing just one hit with one walk and five strikeouts. Drew Mobley, Morgan McCarley and Ben Seabrook then pitched one scoreless inning each.
Six Lions had two hits each in game two, with Noland scoring four runs and driving in two more.
The Lions play a three-game series at Florida Southern on Friday and Saturday.
