HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A Morgan County bank robbery suspect was captured in Huntsville after leading officers through two counties.
Authorities arrested 36-year-old Joe Guthrie.
Investigators said a middle-aged man entered Peoples Bank in Lacey's Spring around 2 p.m. wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun. The offender demanded money, and fled the scene in a red truck after the teller complied.
Because of several recent bank robberies in Morgan County, deputies were stationed nearby. A citizen called in the suspect's tag number, and deputies were able to spot him a short time later.
He led deputies into Huntsville and he was captured on Memorial Parkway near Clinton Avenue. After searching the car, investigators said they found evidence he was the bank robber.
According to investigators, this is the same man who robbed several banks in Morgan County.
