In an effort to reduce meth manufacturing, police officers and district attorneys will announce a plan to crack down on "smurfing."
Smurfing is a when people go from store to store purchasing pseudoephedrine to make meth.
Pseudoephedrine is one of the key ingredients in over the counter cold medicine, but it's also used to make meth.
Jackson and DeKalb County district attorneys and law enforcement officers will debut a new anti-smurfing campaign.
The state does have laws in place to prevent smurfing. There is a database that connects all pharmacies, so you can't go from one pharmacy to another and stock up on the drug.
That database also prevents people convicted of drug offenses from buying pseudoephedrine unless they have a prescription.
The campaign announcement will be at 10 a.m. at Section Pharmacy in Section.
