FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
Florence firefighters responded to Madison Square Apartments Tuesday afternoon.
When crews arrived, there was heavy smoke coming from Apartment E. They quickly put out the flames.
The bottom area of the apartment sustained fire and water damage, and there was smoke damage on the second floor. An apartment next door also sustained smoke damage.
The fire appears to have started near the water heater. The cause is still under investigation.
No one was at home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
