HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -
Hoover police have arrested and charged a Hoover businessman for providing alcohol to a minor and animal cruelty after discovering a dead puppy at his home.
Raymond Louis Smith III, 43, who owns Premier Mega Tan, was originally arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police say that in January, Smith provided alcohol to a 16-year-old female.
At the time of his arrest, search warrants were also served at Smith's business and his residence. Three adult dogs and eight puppies were taken for "safekeeping" and turned over to the Shelby County Humane Society after finding a dead puppy at the home.
Police also found three more live puppies at the closed Premier Mega Tan.
Smith posted his $4,000 bond and was released Feb. 7. Anyone with additional information should contact Family Services Lt. Harry Long at 205-739-7440.
