UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
A former substitute teacher at Harmony ISD in Upshur County pleaded guilty on Friday to the charge of Improper Relationship between an Educator and a Student.
According to Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd, Judy Lynn Langford was charged with sexual assault of a child and online solicitation of a minor. Byrd said that the improper relationship charge is more appropriate for her conduct.
Harmony ISD superintendent Jed Whitaker says Langford was a substitute for four or five years before the alleged incidents took place. According to Whitaker, school officials were notified of the accusation on December 1, 2011. She was removed from the substitute list immediately and the sheriff's office was informed and began an investigation.
Langford waived her right to appeal and will be sentenced later this month.
