ETX man indicted for trying to use school bus as getaway car

PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) -

Cedrick Brenard Lewis,30, was indicted on February 5, 2013 for aggravated kidnapping and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Officials from The Palestine Police Department arrested Lewis back in December when they said he tried to steal a school bus full of elementary school children.

Palestine authorities said the bus was picking students up at an apartment complex when Lewis jumped on the bus and attempted to use it as a getaway car.

Maintenance workers from the apartment complex told KLTV they worked with an off-duty corrections officer and the bus driver to get Lewis off the bus and held him down until authorities arrived.

The Anderson County Courthouse said a court date has not been set at this time.
