HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Oakwood University kicked off a month long black history celebration on Thursday morning.
"The speakers that we have coming this month, the programs we have both in the cafeteria, in the residence halls, and the classrooms are all geared to raise their level of education about the contributions that they have made people that look like them, act like them and have come from the same backgrounds that they came from," said Tim Allston with Oakwood University.
Organizers said they hope students use this as a foundation to build and grow personally and professionally.
