HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Huntsville police officer involved in a wreck Tuesday is the same officer who was recently given his job back by the city council.
Huntsville Police said it appears Officer Brett Russell pulled out in front of another car, hitting it head-on at the intersection of Blue Springs Road and Sparkman Drive.
Russell and both people in the other car were treated for injuries.
HPD fired Russell in 2012 because of a dash cam video that showed Russell pull a man out of the patrol car and then proceed to punch the man.
Russell appealed his firing, and the city council re-instated him.
HPD would not comment on Russell's future with the department following Tuesday's wreck.
