WATSON, LA (WAFB) -
A Greenwell Springs, LA resident died Tuesday afternoon, just after 2 p.m., in a fatal crash that happened on LA Hwy 1019, east of LA Hwy 16 in Livingston Parish.
The crash took the life of 60-year-old Walter C. Phillips, Jr.
State Police say Phillips lost control of his vehicle, overcorrected and crossed into oncoming traffic where he hit a tractor-trailer being driven by 55-year-old Jeffery Thompson from Denham Springs, LA.
Phillips was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries from the crash. Driver impairment is unknown at this time; however, Troopers have submitted a toxicology sample from Phillips to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Thompson was properly restrained and was not injured in the crash.
