Ascension sheriff's deputies have arrested a man who allegedly abused his girlfriend.
According to reports, Romel Julien, 27, attacked his girlfriend at her home on February 2nd. The fight then moved outside where she was able to escape him and call 911.
Investigators say that once Julien learned authorities were on their way, he went into his trunk and pulled out an AK-47 and ran into the woods to hide the gun. He then returned and fled in a green Oldsmobile Delta 88.
The assault rifle was found in a neighbor's shed.
Deputies say Julien, a convicted felon, was arrested Tuesday night after another disturbance with his girlfriend at a Donaldsonville store.
He has been charged with unauthorized entry of a dwelling, domestic abuse battery and felon in possession of a firearm.
