HUNSTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Court records state Safia Memon, mother of Discovery Middle School shooting suspect Hammad Memon, will go to trial April 15.
Safia Memon and her husband Iqbal Memon are charged with hindering prosecution. Investigators say the husband and wife tried to get their son out of the country before he could stand trial for murder.
Police discovered a Pakistani passport was delivered to Hammad Memon in April 2012. Hammad and Safia Memon were found in Texas and brought back to Madison County.
Safia and Iqbal Memon are out on bond. Iqbal Memon is scheduled to go to trial February 11. Hammad Memon's bond was revoked when he returned to Madison County.
The Shooting
Hammad Memon is charged with the February 2010 murder of Todd Brown. Brown was shot and killed during a class change.
Memon had a mental evaluation immediately after the shooting and another once in December. A trial date has not been set. A status conference is set for March 14.
Memon is being held in the Huntsville-Madison County Metro Jail.
