BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
This year marks the 50th anniversary in the Civil Rights struggle. Today the mayor announced a new film in the works, one that celebrate the contributions of attorneys to the Civil Rights movement.
The city and three different bar associations are teaming up to produce a new film that documents and talks to a lot of the lawyers who were involved in overturning Jim Crow laws and helping to bring the energy and passion of the Civil Rights movement from the streets and into the law books.
The groups are calling their new film "Journey for Justice" and they're looking for local corporations and donors to help pay for the estimated $200,000 cost of this film.
They'll debut it at a gala on May 4 where they hope to have a lot of the lawyers featured in the film in the audience to see this celebration of their work. It will premier at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center.
