WHITE HOUSE, TN (WSMV) -
A local girl asked for something pretty special for her eighth birthday - gifts for others.
McKenzee Hales said she didn't need anything new for her birthday, so she asked friends and family to give gifts to others.
McKenzee's family is collecting food donations through the month of February. They plan to donate everything to the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home in Brentwood.
McKenzee hopes other people will follow her lead.
"If you start doing this, our world would be a better place," said McKenzee. "If you do it, others would have the stuff that we have."
The family plans to make this an annual event for the children's home.
