GURLEY, AL (WAFF) -
A spokesperson with Madison County Schools says officials are investigating rumors of a threat at Madison County High School.
The rumor about a student bringing a gun to school Monday circulated on social media, and had parents on edge.
School officials, along with Madison County Sheriff's Department, are investigating the rumor and haven't found evidence of a threat.
Deputies are on duty at the high school as student are on campus as scheduled. The spokesperson says parents can be assured that safety is the school system's number one priority.
"We are taking every precaution to see that their children are safely educated," the statement said.
