HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Icy roads and winter weather caused a nine car pileup in
Huntsville Saturday.
When the sleet started coming down Saturday morning,
roadways and overpasses iced over quickly. One vehicle slid into a wall on North
Memorial Parkway just before Clinton Avenue, causing a chain reaction.
"Some were going faster than others. They had to hit the brakes harder. Of course,
as soon as they hit the brakes, they started spinning out. Like a pinball
machine. There was six, seven or eight. As more of them piled up, the ones
behind them kept piling into them," said one of the drivers involved, Jim
Baker.
One car crashed, causing a chain reaction.
