ST. GABRIEL, LA (WAFB) -
State Police say impairment could be the reason for a crash that took the life of a Terrytown resident. The crash happened just after 6:00 pm on LA Hwy 30, south of LA Hwy 3115 in Ascension Parish.
Troopers say 21-yr-old Blake Dozier was driving north on LA Hwy 30 when for unknown reasons his pickup truck crossed the centerline, went into the southbound lanes and hit another pickup truck driven by 54-yr-old Leonardo Estrella. An SUV driven by 25-yr-old Joel Leon-Hernandez, attempted to avoid the accident but was unable and struck Dozier's vehicle on the passenger side.
Estrella was wearing a seat belt but succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Troopers suspect Dozier may have been impaired at the time. A toxicology sample has been submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation. Charges may be pending.
