FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

A Lauderdale County judge set an April 15 trial date for a Lauderdale County teenager charged with murder.

18-year-old Autumn Wood is accused of stabbing and killing 14-year-old Brooklyn Hollins.

The stabbing happened at a party in Florence in March 2012.

Thursday, a judge denied Wood's request for youthful offender status.

Wood pleaded not guilty.

Wood's attorney claims the stabbing was in self defense after she was jumped.

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
