MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A man who ran from the Madison County Courthouse instead of staying in court to take a plea agreement is back in custody.
George Keith Smith got into the elevator and left the courthouse when the district attorney offered him a deal.
Smith was facing a robbery charge and a possible sentence of life without parole.
Officials with AA East Out Bail Bond, the company who bonded him out, said Smith isn't the only one who will have to deal with the fallout.
Smith will not get bail now that he's back in jail.
