JACKSON, LA (WAFB) -
A 17-year-old East Feliciana High School student was arrested Wednesday morning after the school was evacuated.
According to Louisiana State Police, Sean Mahan was overheard by multiple students making threats about a possible bomb and a possible weapon. This happened around 8 a.m.
During the investigation, it was learned a student overheard
another student making verbal threats. Upon hearing this, the student sent her
mother a text message explaining what she heard. The mother then called the
high school to report what she learned from her daughter.
Upon learning of the
threats, school officials evacuated the campus.
Investigators learned that two separate students at the high school had in
fact been overheard by several individuals making verbal threats. However,
after conducting interviews with the two students and contacting their
parents, they determined that the students were merely speaking in a threatening
manner, and were not planning any malicious activities against the school or
any other students.
Due to the nature of the threats, Mahan was arrested and booked into the East Feliciana Parish Jail. Investigators also
interviewed and subsequently released one juvenile student to a parental
authority figure.
