HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

President Obama addressed a crowd in Nevada by saying now is the time for an immigration reform bill.

The President wants to have one that provides a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. He praised the bipartisanship between the White House and U.S. Senate on the basic plans for putting millions of illegal immigrants on a pathway to citizenship. The plan also included tightening security at the borders.

"I broke the law," said Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice volunteer Rosa Calderon. "I came into this country undocumented at age of six."

Calderon is hopeful President Obama's remarks help the estimated 11-million illegal immigrants she's fought for.

"Now is the time to find a better way to welcome the striving, hopeful immigrants who still see America as the land of opportunity," said President Obama to a crowd in Nevada.

"It's sending the wrong message when the very first act that they have when they step on American soil is to break American laws," Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks said following the President's comments. "I'd just have those folks not become citizens of our country. I want law abiding people."

Calderon was disheartened to hear Congressman Brooks' stance on the issue and wants to see this reform implemented as soon as possible.

"We need to remember all [immigrants] wanted was a better life," said Calderon. "Let's change the law."
