MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
The Alabama Department of Homeland Security says it's preparing to hold a news conference in regards to the cyber-intrusion of state computer systems that was confirmed Friday.
Monday afternoon, Homeland Security Director Spencer Collier confirmed he was preparing to discuss the breach of the Alabama Information Services Division (ISD) and the state's plan of action in response to the incident.
The ISD servers are controlled by the Alabama Department of Finance and many of the state's other departmental servers also fall under its purview. The ISD's director, Jack Doane, will also be in attendance.
WSFA 12 News has attempted to confirm additional details regarding the security breach, including which departments were affected and which agencies are involved in the investigation, but state officials have been unwilling to speak.
Details about the infrastructure breach remained limited throughout the weekend with the only confirmed information being the Dept. of Homeland Security's admission that there was a "cyber-intrusion" and an ongoing criminal investigation.
The Alabama Attorney General's office has yet to respond to requests made on Friday, to confirm or deny its involvement. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has also failed to respond to questions regarding the cyber-intrusion.
