HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Three North Alabama
schools are being recognized for their efforts to crackdown on bullying.
Westlawn Middle School
is one of three schools that earn the "No Place For Hate" distinction.
The program gives
students the opportunity to learn about damaging impact that bullying can have
on students.
The students at
Westlawn completed three activities that addressed bullying.
"We educate on how it
looks and how it feels and then we have to associate the consequences of where
it could lead to negativity for the students. And they invest in making a
difference in how they see it in their lives and then we're going to see
change," said counselor Ashley Felder.
"No Place For Hate" empowers
students, teachers and parents to tackle prejudice, bullying and intergroup
conflict.
Grissom and Whitesburg K-8 also
earned the distinction.
