CHEROKEE, AL (WAFF) -

A Colbert County sheriff's deputy was injured in a crash Wednesday night after he lost control of his car in Cherokee.

Deputy Durand Deon Prince was responding to a call, traveling from Mt. Hester Road to White Pike Road when he lost control and the car began to roll, according to Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May.

Crews had to extricate Prince from his patrol car.

Sheriff May said the deputy was still communicating with crew members at the time. He was taken to the hospital, treated and released.
