HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Huntsville School Board
has taken the next step toward building a new school.
Board members Wednesday
night approved Chapman Sisson Architects to design the new Grissom High School.
They could have some
drawings in about six months.
The school board still has
to decide whether to build the new school at its current location or on
property off Weatherly Road. An outdoor group opposes the site off Weatherly Road,
claiming there are Indian aartifacts there.
Superintendent Dr. Casey Wardynkski
said they've asked the owner of that land to evaluate it again.
"We don't think there
are any. The first phase assessments say there aren't any but we want to
double-double check, so that's on the owners so before we make and offer and
moved forward even to a purchase. The
owner has to make that information available to use and assure us that
everything is good to go," he said.
A decision on the location is expected within
a month.
