HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
One person was killed on University Drive near Arctic Street Wednesday night.
It happened just before 7 p.m. in North Huntsville. Police said a car carrying two people hit 62-year-old Alphonso Holt.
Police said Holt stepped out into traffic intending to cross the road. A car traveling westbound tried to swerve and avoid him, but was unable to miss him. The car then swerved into oncoming traffic and hit another car.
Holt died at the scene.
Drivers traveling eastbound on University Drive were diverted to Meadow Drive.
Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
One person was killed on University Drive near Arctic Street Wednesday night, according to Huntsville Police.
