BIRMINGHAM – For the second time this season, officials with the Gulf South Conference have named North Alabama's Mekena Randle the conference Player of the Week.
The junior from Madison averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per contest as the Lions posted a 1-1 record last week. She scored 11 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in a 61-60 home loss to Shorter on Thursday.
Two days later, she led the Lions to an 81-69 win at Alabama-Huntsville to give UNA first place in the GSC standings. Against the Lady Chargers, Randle, who also won GSC Player-of-the-Week honors on December 4, scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
North Alabama is now 12-5 on the season and 5-2 in GSC play. The Lions play at West Georgia on Thursday.
